General Gold Grey Glass Lens
General Gold Grey Glass Lens
Named in honour of General Douglas MacArthur, the legendary commander of American forces in the Pacific during the Second World War, the General traces its roots to the US Army Air Corps D-1 sunglasses, which were specially designed by American Optical in the 1930s for American military pilots.
It was this model that gave rise to the classic ‘teardrop’ shape of aviator sunglasses. While this shape and style is widely imitated by many brands, of all the aviators on the market, the General can boast the most bona fide design heritage.
Still made in the USA from premium imported materials, the General features all-metal frame and hinges that, despite fine dimensions, give this model a particularly satisfying feeling of heft, quality and sturdiness that you just do not get from other aviator sunglasses.
